FDA Guidelines for COVID-19 Vaccines

As of October 16, 2025, the FDA has issued the following guidelines for COVID-19 vaccines:

Eligibility:
All individuals 6 months of age and older are eligible for a primary series of COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals 12 years of age and older are eligible for a booster dose if it has been at least 6 months since their last primary series dose or booster.

Dosage:
Primary series consists of two doses of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) administered 8-12 weeks apart. Booster dose is a single dose of an mRNA vaccine administered at least 6 months after the last dose of the primary series or booster.

Additional Doses:
Additional booster doses may be recommended for certain high-risk individuals, such as those over 65 years of age, immunocompromised individuals, and healthcare workers.

Specific instructions regarding dosage, administration, and eligibility may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer of the vaccine.
